A summer wrap up

We are ending our summer with a couple of pictures of our adventures in August. For my (Holli) birthday we went hiking at silver falls. Lincoln and I really enjoyed it. Jason had to run 18 miles that morning for his marathon training. Needless to say a 5 mile hike didn't feel so great. We saw 5 different waterfalls. Thanks Jason for powering through on your wife's 26th birthday!!

This was the start of our hike...downhill that is why we we're still smiling. The water falls fell from really big overhangs so you got to walk behind them in little cave like things. Lincoln liked it because he could feel the water if he reached out.

Lincoln always amused to take photos with his mom. I think he gets that look from Jason.

Chris and Liz Viscardi were out in August. We were lucky enough to get to spend the day with them. Here we are at a winery that our lovely friend Hannah works at. We really enjoyed our time with Viscardi's. The theme WINE. It is always our goal when having visitors out, to make them want to love Portland so much that they want to move here to be closer to us. We have found it best to always bring such guest to as many wineries as possible.

AUGUST 17th, Lincoln's 1st Birthday...we went to the ZOO!! Lincoln loved the zoo. He didn't really notice the animals unless they were moving around, so this elephant was a hit. He was swinging he trunk and walking right in front of us.

OK looking back at this picture I can see why they have a fence that goes horizontal. Jason is holding Lincoln over the cement barrier to get a better look at the black bear but I assure you that Jason was holding him really tight. Lincoln liked the bear a lot too, I think he thought it was a dog.

This is me wanting to get a nice picture with my son in front of the Orangoutang behind us. As a 1 year old he feels that he can freely express his emotions as he sees fit, in this moment grabbing my nose and biting my face!

AFTER... mom had a talk with him, about photo etiquette.

The real truth behind Lincoln's trip to the ZOO.... this waterfall was his favorite part. He cried when he walked away from it. It was about 500 feet passed the entrance to the zoo. We probably could have just stopped here and he would have been happy.

Lincoln's birthday Cupcake.

Happy 1st birthday son!!

The summer didn't end at the zoo. We went to Seattle for the weekend to visit Cheree and Kevin. We had so much fun. The weather was perfect and Cheree's view was even better. Here are a couple pictures of Seattle in the summertime.

The view from Cheree's Apartment.

Cheree and Lincoln playing.

Gum alley. patrons are welcome to stick their gum right on the sides of theses buildings. The alley even smells like bubble gum.
